As a service project to meet the child care needs for many young families in the community, Mililani Hongwanji has offered the BASS (before, after, summer school) program for the past over 10 years and is licensed by the State of Hawaii.

The program offers child care programs for children enrolled in grades K-5. Bus service to and/or from the four public elementary schools in Mililani is included in the program.

The BASS calendar follows the public school calendar, and accommodates waiver days and year-round calendars. During the regular school session, the program begins at 5:30 a.m. and ends 6:00 p.m. The summer program begins at 5:45 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. Various plans are available to include before-school care, after-school program, full day summer program, or afternoon summer program (after summer school).

Mililani Hongwanji BASS

2008 - 2009 School Year

Mililani Hongwanji BASS will be offering Before and After Scholl care during the school year for you child/ren. The program will be held at Mililani Hongwanji, 95-257 Kaloapau Street, next to Recreation Center III. If you have any questions, please call 625-0325.

	ADMISSION CRITERIA The age requirement is kindergarten through the fifth grade. A child must be at lease four years and eight months of age and attending one of the for elementary schools in Mililani. The BASS program does not discriminate with regards to race, creed, national origin, parent's age or parent's marital status.
	D. O. E. SCHOOL CALENDAR Year Round Schedule: July , 2008 to June , 2009 We will be closed all State and Federal Holidays. We will also be closed for the Winter and Spring Breaks. We will offer all day care for Teachers' Institute Day, Waiver Days, and Intersession Breaks. These programs carry an additional charge and are based on sign-ups.
	HOURS OF OPERATION Before School program: 5:30 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. Monday - Friday After School program: 2:05 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:05 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
	BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAM Morning snack will be served to the child/ren. as they check in. Some of the activities children can participate are arts and crafts, sports, and indoor games. Children will be transported to their respective schools.
	AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM We will pick up your child/ren. from their respective schools. Afternoon snack will be served before the children participate in the activities planned by their group leader. We will have Dharma talk (Buddhist Service) on the first Wednesday of the month.
	JAPANESE LANGUAGE We will be providing Japanese language classes for those in Kindergarten and above. Half hour classes will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. (Limited enrollment)
	DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP We will drop-off your child/ren. to a Mililani Town sanctioned activity for a fee of $1.00 per drop-off. Activities must be between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. A drop-off form must be completed and turned in before we drop-off your child/ren. All pick-ups from the school after the scheduled pick-up time, will be charged the $1.00 pick-up fee.
